Lila Eileen Robbins, 96, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2017 in Cascade, Idaho.  Lila was born to parents, Lydia (Torke) and Ingvald Anderson on January 16, 1921 in Rockdale, Wisconsin.  She joined a sister, Devina (1915-1995) and a brother, Olin (1917-1980).  A few years later, a brother, Oliver (1924) would join the family.  He died as an infant.

Lila knew much of hardship in her life, but she responded by developing faith, courage and always compassion for others.

Her mother, Lydia, had been ill for years and died when Lila was 13 years old.  As a teen, Lila contracted tuberculosis and lived in a sanatorium for nine months.  Her family suffered through the Great Depression.  Her father, Ingvald found relief in becoming part of one of FDR's work projects.  In spite of the challenges, Lila was the first in her family to graduate from high school in Edgerton, Wisconsin.

Lila married Ralph Robbins (1906-1963) in 1943.  The couple had two daughters, Mary and Robin.  Lila was required to find employment outside of the home most of the time due to family circumstances.  Ralph passed away in 1963 from cancer.  By that time, Lila was employed by Jones Dairy Farm in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.  The name of the company is deceiving.  In reality, they produced pork products.  Lila spent years making sausages.

After visits from missionaries in 1959, Lila wholeheartedly accepted baptism and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She traveled 40 miles one-way to attend church meetings.  Through the years, she served in Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society.  Her service in the Boise Idaho Temple in the 1980's was a highlight in her life.

Her hobbies and interests were many.  She sewed, knitted, refinished furniture, gardened, did craft work, canned, trained dogs for show and laid a foundation for family history work.  She was a great support and encouragement to her daughters as Mary completed college and Robin trained and showed horses and dogs.

Upon retirement in 1983, she moved to Cascade, Idaho and resided in the small home next to Mary and family.  She was active and busy, even mowing lawn into her 80's until health concerns no longer allowed that.

Unfailingly, she was a kind and a mature woman.  We regard her as a pioneer in our family.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Pattan of Cascade, Idaho and Robin Sykes of Dexter, Michigan; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Burial was held in the Margaret Cemetery, Cascade, Idaho on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in the Cascade Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cascade, Idaho.
