Richard "Rick" Merchant Obituary

Richard Allen Merchant (Rick), age 73, of Donnelly, ID passed away in his home on May 30, 2019, his 12-year fight with cancer peacefully ending with his sister Victoria at his side.

There will be no funeral service. Richard was all encompassing of the spirituality of the universe and at his request is to be cremated and humbly returned to rest by means of his family members.

Richard was born in Lewiston, ID on Oct 14, 1945. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1963, and later on in life continued on to study Criminal Justice at Lewis Clark State College.

Richard married Teresa E. (Lefort) Sullivan of Lewiston, ID in the late 1970s; married Darcy Williamson sometime after 1983.

Richard served in the Air Force for four years, including a one-year tour in Vietnam. He then was a Long-haul Trucker experiencing and appreciating the vast countryside, and later became self-employed in his own property management and landscaping business. He enjoyed the quiet and serenity found in the beautiful landscapes of the area he called home for over 15 years. He attributed much of his longevity in his fight with cancer to the healing properties of the hot springs and unpolluted environment found in this mountainous region.

Richard is survived by daughter Rochelle Ann (Merchant (Wilks)) Pasco of Lewiston, ID and son-in-law Steven Michael Pasco of Muskegon, MI, grandchildren Aiden Jace Pasco, Corbin Jerrik Pasco and Donovan Jasper Pasco; sister Victoria Ellen Bieren (Vickie) and brother David Joesph Bieren (Joe) of Lewiston, ID; son Brandon McGrew of Seattle, WA.

Richard is preceded in death by father Jack Merchant and mother Barbara (Brinkley) Bieren of Clarkston, WA, and adopted father Cletus Bernard Bieren of Lewiston, ID; grandmother Mary Merchant of Clarkston, WA.
