Steven Samry Obituary

Steven Francis Samry, 61, of Fairhope Alabama, died tragically but quickly after skiing the best run ever at Brundage Mountain Resort in Idaho.

Steven was born September 17, 1957, in Brockton Massachusetts. Steve had the unique distinction of graduating from two high schools. In 1975, he graduated from Nauset Regional High School in Eastham, Massachusetts and a year later he graduated from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich, Massachusetts.

Steven served for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps. His service took him to bases on the east and west coasts, Hawaii, and Japan. During his service, he met and married Kimberly Woods, the sister of fellow Marine and friend, the late Orie Woods. He enjoyed positions in the transportation, boating, and real estate fields. His most important and impactful position was his labor of love as a stay at home father to his three amazing children Christopher Steven, Courtney Marie, and Alexa Rae.
While raising his children, he also found time to serve the community. He volunteered his time with the Belforest Volunteer Fire Department and Daphne Search and Rescue. Steven was an active parent at W.J. Carroll Intermediate School, Daphne East Elementary School, and he coached girl’s soccer at Daphne High School.

Steven is survived by his wife and best friend Kimberly (Woods) Samry, son Christopher Samry, twin daughters Courtney and Alexa Samry, all of Fairhope, Alabama, siblings Laurie (Samry)McGue of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, Lynne Samry, of Bourne, Massachusetts, Mark Samry and Alan Samry of Fairhope, Alabama. He is also survived by aunts, an uncle, and by the best fleet of cousins in the world. He was predeceased by his mother, Joan Marilyn (Hannan) and father, Francis Joseph Samry.

Interment with military honors will be held for immediate family members only at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Fairhope Yacht Club on Friday January 25th, 2019 at 3:00 PM.
