Oswald “Ozzie” Annen, 88, of McCall, Idaho, passed away at his home on June 2, 2026.

Ozzie was born in Saanen Switzerland on October 10, 1937, to Albert and Emma Hählen-Annen. He was the second of three sons.

He apprenticed in Switzerland as a baker. With the skills he learned there, he immigrated first to Victoria, then to Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia, Canada and worked as a chef in restaurants and the Harrison Hot Springs Hotel. It was in Harrison Hot Springs that he met his wife Dianna June Reambeault.

Ozzie and Dianna married in the Harrison Gospel Chapel on June 1, 1963. They welcomed their first child, Richard Oswald the following year. Later that year, Ozzie, Dianna and Richard packed their bags and immigrated, this time to Phoenix, Arizona, USA with Ozzie working as a chef at the Camelback Inn. While there, they searched for a new location a bit closer to Dianna’s family and home and discovered McCall, Idaho. In April of 1965 the Annen family moved to McCall and Ozzie was hired as Head Chef at the Shore Lodge by John V. Edwards the General Manager. Later that year, they welcomed their daughter Natalie June. They have called McCall home ever since. Ozzie enjoyed snow skiing, hiking, hunting and fishing in the beautiful Idaho mountains and singing gospel songs and hymns at home and in church.

Ozzie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dianna, his son Richard (Minnie) and his daughter Natalie (Richard Cawthon), Grandchildren Ashley (Xavier) Mortensen, Jeremy Annen, Hunter (Samantha)Annen, Jessica (Matt) Conley, Great grandchildren Maelie, Nora, Eli, Lucas, Adaline, June, Lucy and Cal, and Brother Walter (Helga) Annen.
