The family of Raymond Phillip Scholer is saddened to announce Ray’s passing on January 9, 2026. Ray passed away at the age of 60 in Donnelly, Idaho. Ray was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on May 20, 1965 to his parents, Raymond Sr. and Casey Scholer. Thereafter, the Scholer family moved to Meridian, Idaho.
Ray attended Meridian High School and graduated college at the University of Idaho, where he got his degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
After obtaining his degree, Ray went on to a long and successful career as an operations and quality assurance engineer at Micron Technology. Over the course of 35 years at Micron, Ray developed many long-term friendships, held numerous leadership positions, and was always extremely proud of his patented work related to advancements in Micron’s computer memory technology. Anyone who had the privilege to know Ray knew that his job as an engineer was more than just a job to him—it was one of his most fervent passions in life.
Outside of work, Ray was a man of many personal interests. He spent much of his time exploring the great outdoors, snowboarding, traveling, watching and cheering for the Denver Broncos, building “smart” networks at his home, and building computers out of scratch. He will be remembered by those who loved him for his passion for exploration, endless pursuit of knowledge, his love of science, and his long-held belief that technology could connect people and make the world a better place.
Ray is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Mariah (Jeff) Bishop, Josh (Audrey) Scholer; his mother, Casey Scholer; his sister, Robyn (George) Morgan; and his grandchildren, Tanner Bishop, Jayden Bishop, and Cameron Scholer.
At Ray’s request, there will be no service held. Instead, Ray’s family will spread his ashes near a camping spot where he and his family would often go over the years. Consistent with Ray’s wishes, he will be laid to rest with an excellent view of Boulder Mountain.
Those who wish to honor Ray can do so by enjoying a cold beer in the sunshine, snowboarding (or skiing) through the trees on a powder day, or sneaking their dog an extra treat.
