Dean Biggs, age 74, of Cascade, Idaho, passed away on August 26, 2025.
Dean was born on August 25, 1951, in Cascade, Idaho, to Clarence and Lora Biggs. He spent his younger childhood in McCall. Dean proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California, where his daughter Shelly was born. Following his Navy service, Dean continued his commitment to his country by joining the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served with distinction for 27 years in both active duty and the reserves.
In the early 80s Dean moved to Hailey, Idaho, with his first wife and daughter to live closer to family and settle in the valley.
In the mid 80s he decided to pursue his dream career in law enforcement, when he met Charlotte. On July 23, 1988, Dean married the love of his life and adventure partner, Charlotte. Together, they blended their families, bringing three children from previous marriages, and shared 28 years of a happy and devoted marriage.
Dean retired with Charlotte to Cascade in 2012 after an accomplished career in law enforcement. He dedicated his career to public service in various roles such as a Bellevue Marshal, as a deputy with the Hailey Police Department, and in various other public service roles. In the late 90s Dean and Charlotte moved to Auburn, Washington, where Dean worked in Seattle at Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. He later accepted a position with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Throughout his career, Dean was highly respected, admired for his leadership, and deeply trusted for his wisdom and integrity in every role he held.
Dean will be fondly remembered for his hard work, generosity, kindness, and his wonderfully quirky sense of humor that could bring any room to life. He loved the outdoors and had an enduring passion for staying active. His many pursuits included river rafting, long-distance bicycling, hiking, four-wheeling, swimming, snorkeling, cruising in the Caribbean, and traveling in his motor home. Summers were joyfully spent in Cascade with family and friends, while winters in Yuma, Arizona, were filled with adventures across the border for Margaritas at Algedones and countless laughs with friends.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Shelly; his stepson, Sean (wife Tara); his grandchildren: Kacey, Madalyn, Caleb (wife Monique), Jonah, Alexandria, Tristan, Zavier, and Brinlee; his great-grandchildren: Cameron and Camille. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his stepdaughter, Shannon; his siblings, David and Martha; his parents, Clarence and Lora.
Dean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend. He is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
