Carolyn was born to Ernest and Elizabeth (Hunter) Keith on July 2, 1937 at the Mercy Hospital in Nampa, Idaho, and died August 14, 2022 at the age of 85.

Her birth was greeted by the sound and light of the accidental ignition of a stockpile of fireworks across the street, and her family would often say she arrived with a bang. She spent her childhood on the Keith cattle and sheep ranch near Walter's Ferry in Owyhee County, riding her beloved horses over the Owyhee Mountains and summering in the coolness of her family's high mountain cabin.

In 1951, at the age of fourteen, Carolyn moved to New Meadows, Idaho with her mother, her brother Ted, and her two sisters, Margene and Viki. She married Charles Farrell, a rancher of Meadows Valley, in 1958.

In the subsequent years the couple had three sons, Nicholas, Patrick, and Timothy. In 1973 she began working for J.I. Morgan in New Meadows as a payroll clerk, becoming a vital part of their operation over the 29 years of her employment. In 1980 Carolyn moved into a log house built with the help of her sons, on a parcel of the ranch nearest the foothills of the valley. She lived there in some measure of solitude and independence, while often visited by her children, grandchildren, and sister Viki living nearby in the valley, sometimes arriving by horseback or dirt bike across the fields. These visits would often feature strawberry and raspberry picking from gardens that were vigorously maintained. Carolyn lived out her final seven years at The Cottages assisted living facility in Weiser, Idaho after a fall reduced her cherished mobility, often visited by family.

She is survived by her sisters Viki Lafay and Margene Mangum, her two sons Nicholas and Timothy, and her four grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Nathan, and Nicole.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022 in the Meadows Valley Cemetery, New Meadows, Idaho.
