George Rohrig Obituary

George A. Rohrig

George Rohrig, 79, went home to heaven, Thursday, August 26th, 2021. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and grew up in California. In 1963 he married Karen Sharrer with whom he had two children, Amy Lynn Packard (Chris) and Adam Glenn (Heather Hayes). He and Karen divorced in 1999 and in 2002 he married Kathleen (Kathy) Ayers in Boise.

Employment opportunities took George through the states of California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. During this time, he began learning a multitude of skilled trades that ranged from training to be a machinist to working as an apprentice electrician. He also spent time as a logger and a maintenance employee for various K-12 Christian Academies. He then served as the property manager of a variety of housing facilities that included apartment complexes, condominiums, and senior living. George especially enjoyed the years he spent in McCall, Idaho at Bethel Park Church Camp and the Boy Scout Camp where he served as manager and ranger, respectively.

In 2004, he retired as maintenance manager from WINCO Foods in Boise and when his wife Kathy retired, he was anxious to move back to the mountains in Valley County where they built their new home in Round Valley.

George loved the Lord, his family, friends, fishing, hunting and living in the mountains. He was always ready to help others in need. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen (Kathy), children, Amy (Chris) and Adam (Heather), grandson Josh Packard (Alysha), two great-grandchildren Eva and Eli, cousin Emet Hall (Linda), and niece Abbie Campbell (Michael).
