Hazeldene Bollar Obituary

Hazeldene (Moore) Bollar, “Dene”, 92, of McCall, Idaho, after a long battle with cancer was lifted-up by God’s hand to take her home, on September 21, 2021.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00, on October 2, 2021, at the Long Valley Finnish Church, on Farm to Market Road, McCall.  Visitation will be Friday, October 1, at the McCall Funeral Home from 4pm to 7 pm.  Burial will follow services at the Finnish Cemetery. 

Dene was born in the Donnelly Hotel on July 6, 1929, to Ellsworth and Elsie (Nortune) Moore.  She attended school in Donnelly.  She married Arthur Bollar on November 4, 1946.  They spent most of their life on the home farm east of Lakefork, raising 5 children. They were very involved in their 4-H and school activities. She was very proud to be a life-time resident of Valley County, and that she and Art had visited all 50 states.

Dene was first a mom, worked as a veterinary assistant, then started her career in the United States Postal Service as a relief rural carrier, later to moved to desk clerk and retired after 22 years. She was active in Finnish Ladies Aid, Happy Hour Extension Club, and lately the Secretary for the Finnish Church Board. She was a 50+year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron. She was a Charter member of Job’s Daughters, Bethel #25, McCall and served as Bethel Guardian for the bethel in Cascade and McCall.

 Her passion for the Finnish Heritage led her to helping with the plot mapping for the Valley Center Cemetery District. She was also responsible for getting the flags for military graves started for all the cemeteries in the area. Dene wrote a family history book for her family and dedicated it to Art.

Hazeldene is survived by her children, Bert Bollar, Dubois, Wy:, Connie Buchanan, Meridian, Id.; Dale (Carolyn) Bollar, McCall, Id.; daughter-in-law, Jo Ella Bollar, Nampa, Id.; Monte (Cyndie) Bollar, Kuna, Id.; sister-in-law, Zona Bollar, Meridian, Id.; and 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; brother; her husband Arthur; son James Richard (Rick) Bollar; daughter-in-law, Leona (Toni) Bollar; son-in-law, Donald Buchanan; grandson, David Buchanan; granddaughter Michelle Nelson; and great-grandson, Slater Bollar.
