John "Buzz" Harrison Grove

John "Buzz" Harrison Grove of McCall passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 23, 2021 after a lifetime of 94 years.

A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 in the McCall Cemetery, with Pastor Charlottie "Char" Havlicak officiating, and the American Legion Post Color Guard along with the U.S. Marine Corps Military Funeral Honors Guard performing final military honors.  

John was born on July 17, 1926 in Stillwater, Minnesota.  He graduated from Stillwater High School and at the age of 17, enlisted in the US. Marine Corps.  He served valiantly in the Pacific Theater on Tarawa Atoll.  He was sent to Hawaii for R&R for Christmas, 1943.

He returned to Saipan where was wounded and sent by hospital ship back to Hawaii.  He was awarded the Purple Heart and after 18 months in the Marine Corps was Honorably Discharged.

John married Nancy Alvin on Feb. 14, 1947, and they shared 70 wonderful years together.

John went on to become a plumber and owned Yellen's Plumbing in Norwalk, California.  Upon his retirement John and Nancy moved to McCall, where they spent the remainder of their lives shared with their dear family.  

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife of wife of more than 72 years, Nancy on April 11, 2019.

John is survived by his sons, Kevin and wife Julie, John and wife Robyn, Tim and wife Shea; grandchildren Tamara and husband Chris Suppes, John Grove III, Lacey and husband Joey Howell, DJ Brett and wife Mead, Cody Grove, Ashley and husband Wade Olson, Gerit Grove; great-grandchildren Allie and husband Royal Jones, Cassie Suppes, Kian Howell, Collin Howell, Blakey Howell, Hadley Howell, Nathan Grove, Gavin Grove, Cheyanne Grove, Cole Olson, Lilah Olson, Drew Olson; and great-great-granddaughter Juliet Rae Jones.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the McCall Community Congregational Church, 901 1st St., McCall, ID  83638
